Hey y'all! I'm Elita. I'm so happy you're here. Let's get to know each other a little bit.
I grew up in Texas, went to college in Alabama and now live in Vancouver, Canada with my amazing builder-husband, Ryan, and our 4 wild kiddos: Noah, Jackson, Seth and Macy Jo. Together, Ryan and I have renovated 3 homes which, as of today, have been pinned over a half a million times on Pinterest! How WILD!
I graduated from the University of Mobile in 2006 with a Bachelor’s degree in Communication. I'm currently a stay-at-home mom, I've miraculously avoided driving a minivan, and my kids are happy to report that I no longer homeschool.
My family and I attend Christian Life Assembly in Langley, British Columbia where I serve as the coordinator for the Wednesday morning women’s program, Her Morning Out. I have been pleasantly surprised to find out that women’s ministry isn’t nearly as scary as I once thought! As it turns out, I've fallen quite in love with the women of CLA and I count it an honor to serve them on a weekly basis.
We all have "catalyst moments" in our lives - those times we look back on and realize their weight and significance in shaping us. One such moment happened to me when I was 26 years old. I participated in my first Bible study and it was like the greatest ah-ha moment of my life. I finally understood what people meant when they said they loved reading the Bible. Up to that point, I admit that I read it, but more out of obligation than passion. I've since realized that the Word of God really is worth waking up early for, it’s worth setting aside other things for, and it’s worth staying up late for. Netflix can’t replace it, social media can’t compete with it, and even a really good book can’t measure up to THE Good Book. And I honestly believe that if I can come to grips with this, anyone can. You don't have to be a pastor, a theologian, have a degree, or go to college to understand the Bible.
And so, while I love the renovating side of our life, really this site was birthed from a deep desire to see women of all ages and in all stages of life become Biblically literate – to not just read the Word, but to love it and live it. I also believe it is entirely possible to encounter Jesus from your living room couch while flipping through a coffee-stained, tear-filled Bible that has been colored on and scribbled in by toddlers. That’s my story anyway.
I can't wait to hear your story if you're willing to share it. Email me: firstname.lastname@example.org
