The Dump: A 28-Day Renovation

At the end of 2013, my husband and I took on a major project.  We bought a fixer-upper on the outskirts of Vancouver; locals refer to this style of house as a "BC box."  Basically, it's a rectangular/shoe-box shaped house that started popping up in the late 70's + early 80's.  They lack character and are fairly small (usually less than 2,000 sq. ft.)   And they are a dime a dozen around here.

Since our budget was so low, we knew we had to buy a house that was falling apart so we could renovate it and hopefully make some money.

Our adventure began when we bought it and renovated it in 28 days. You read that right. 28 DAYS. I use the term "we" very loosely here...Ryan renovated.  I babysat our kids.  I also picked out everything (with the help of my sister-in-law Miranda) , which should count for something.

We lovingly nicknamed this house "The Dump." Click on the pictures to make them bigger.  Enjoy!
